Some Dental Care Tips for all:
  • Make a habit to brush your teeth at least twice a day. Morning and Night before you go to bed.
  • Always use a soft-bristled toothbrush with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Don't rush while brush your teeth. Make sure you clean properly with gentle care.
  • Make sure you clean not only the outer side but the important inner side of the teeth which is not done by many.
  • Change your brush atleast once in a month. Don't use tooth brush until the bristles becomes curled.
Tooth brush in bad condition

  • Eat nutritious and balanced meals and limit snacks. Avoid carbohydrates such as candy, pretzels and chips, which can remain on the tooth surface.
  • Consult your dentist once in 6 months or minimum once per year, even you don't have any problems. Some problems will not showoff until they get worse.
  • Try to use a mouth rinse containing fluoride which might help from tooth decay.

How To Start Your Day....

  • 1. Get up a bit early: Getting up minimum 15 minutes early makes your day a busy free. Else you have to rush from getting dressed, break fast etc... If possible, go and have a look on sun raise and go for a morning walk. You feel much relaxed with fresh air and chirping of birds.

  • 2. Don't forget to Thank GOD: Really!!!!! Just think how lucky you are to see the sun shine again..Say from bottom of your heart 'I am really grateful and thankful to you'. I strongly believe some power around us protects us.. and it surely listens to your voice when you are sincere

  • 3. Smile: Give a pleasant smile to your loved one. You don't know the power smile. It not only ease your feelings, but it pleases the other person too.

  • 4. Have Breakfast : Don't skip breakfast as a part of your diet plan. It gives you the energy which is needed to kick start your day with full energy.

  • 5. Don't recall any unpleasant incidents: Yes, don't recall any upset moments passed on to you last day. Like an argument with your boss or with partner etc. Everyday is a new beginning. Try to make it as happier as possible.

  • 6. Read an Inspirational Quote: At-least one inspirational quote in the morning gives boost to your inner soul.

  • 7. Plan: Roughly plan the activities of the day. Not only office work always. Anything at home or for kids or in office etc.. just recall and list out. For important tasks put reminders.

  • 8. Be kind: If possible, do a good thing which really makes you or others happy. For example, while driving to your office donate a bit to a needy, see his smile, if your wife is preparing your breakfast and gets late.. don't shout at her.. give a smile and she feels much better than making things much worse..  :)

  • 9. Do something relaxing: If you have a habit of meditation then please do it. That's the only way by which you calm down your mind.. or listen your favorite music which relaxes you. Music is one of the powerful thing to calm down you.

  • 10. Before you leave to office... say yourself that "Today is great day".

  • 11: Don't get into any sort of argument or discussion in the morning. It spoils the whole day. So try to be calm and do your best to overcome such situation if arises.

Beach
It is known as heaven on earth. Beach lovers should not miss this beach. White sandy beaches, crystal clear blue sea, brilliant underwater world and breath taking nature scenes. Radang is an island comprises 9 islands (Lima Island, Paku Besar Island, Paku Kecil Island, Kerengga Besar Island, Kerengga Kecil Island, Ekor Tebu Island, Ling Island, Pinang Island and the main Redang Island). Itis located 45 km off the coast of Kuala Terengganu. For diving, this beach is the best choice.

Hues of coral, anemones, different kinds of fishes, turtles ensures great snorkeling, scuba-diving, swimming, jungle trekking, boating . Fishing is not allowed within 3.2 km radius of the island. This island is developed as a marine park. The collection of corals and other aquatic life is also strictly prohibited. Some resorts offers a golf course too.

The best time to visit the East Coast is in March and April especially for diving where visibility can hit 40m. It is not advisable to visit this part of Peninsular Malaysia at its peak of the monsoon season - that is, November till early January. The seas are rough and the boat and resort operators are closed between October and February.
Diving
Don't forget to Wear sunscreen and heed the warning flags on the beach. The sun rays are so strong and penetrates into your skin which might be harmful. Sun burns are quite common. Before you plan the trip better check with the resorts which offers Snorkeling tours by boats in the package. For first time divers it is better to know all the information
on wearing the masks, fins etc. The snorkeling is quite protected making the water quite calm and fins are not necessary.

More or less every resort on the island has its own dive shop, but it may be worth looking beyond the house shop as quality varies considerably.Other diving shops offers single dives from RM90 and an extra RM45 for gear hire.
Staff in resorts can communicate in English and very friendly and helpful.

Professional Dive Master and Instructor from either PADI/SDI certification.
Underwater cameras also available for rental at RM30 per day

Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brick Fields

Budhist Temple in Brick Fields
The Buddhist Maha Vihara was founded by the Sinhalese community based in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding areas in 1894 to provide a place of worship in their Sri Lankan Theravada tradition. The Buddhist Maha Vihara was commonly known as the Brickfields Buddhist Temple for many years. It is situated very close to Palm Court Apartments in Brick Fields.

Vesak Day, which is birth day or enlighten day of Gautama Budha is celebrated through out the world. It is known as Budha Purnima or Budha Jayanti in India. It is a full moon day mostly falls in April or May months based on lunar calendar. The festival is to remind devotees about the teachings of Budha to lead a peaceful life. Devotees are encouraged to donate money in charity , help the poor, stay vegetarian and meditate.

This year, Vesak Day fell on 24th May, 2013 which is a public holiday in Malaysia. Before a week onwards the preparation started. Decorating the vehicles with lights and flowers for Vesak Day celebration. Mini shopping area opened on 23rd May around the temple.

For those who lives in Palm Court it is better to stay at home than going out on Vesak Day as it will be a full traffic jam.

Laughing Budha

It is a common belief in many that Laughing Budha brings luck for once family or shop if the statue is placed in proper place. There is an interesting story about it which I will share in my next post.

Sri Shakti Temple in Bukit Rotan, Kuala Selengor,  previously known as Arulmigu Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is really awesome. When we were on the way back to Brick Fields from Bukit Melawati, we cross Sri Shakti Temple. So we visited the temple around 8:45 pm. As it was Friday and evening time, the temple is a bit crowded. Bhajans and Poojas were going on at that time. We were really lucky to go and visit the sacred place.

Interior part is really constructed very well and lot of provision for people to sit and pray.
The opening ceremony took place on Tamil New Year 14th April, 2013.

Sri Shakti Temple, Bukit Rotan

Bukit Melawati

Bukit Melawati, is a historical place to visit. It is located in Kuala Selangor and it is very popular for good sight view. It is a hill peak. The peak and other constructions were built by Sultan Ibrahim of Selangor to safeguard Selangor State from Dutch. The fort faced the sea with a beautiful view of the Selangor River.

From Brick Fields, it takes nearly 1hour 30 minutes of journey if you travel by car.

 Map is here;

At present, the hill is covered with grass and tall rain trees which give very beautiful view. There is a light house which is constructed in 1907 guides the ships coming from Malacca even today. Here only all the visitors gather. From here one can see the greenery and mangroves below and a view of open sea.

Bukit Melawati

Tram to take up hill
The main attraction of this place is Silver Leaf Monkeys. These monkeys come from the mangrove forests below the hill. Monkeys are not at all afraid of the visitors and enjoy the eatables given by visitors. To tell more about Silver Leaf Monkeys, baby monkeys are born with gold color hair and as it grows the hair turns into black and silver color. The exposure to people has made the monkeys tame and unafraid of hopping on the shoulders of unsuspecting visitors. The monkeys can be seen in groups and jumping here and there on the trees.
Silver Monkey
We can see old, non-functional cannons on the slab which once protected the area, now silently witness the wars, battles, victories and defeats. From there the sun set and the sea view are really great and one must enjoy lively. As it is a hill area, most of the time the weather is cloudy but in clear weather it is beautiful spot for photographers to take good photos.

Light House on top of the hill

Now there is an arrangement of a tram which takes the visitors up hill and leaves them on the top to enjoy the view and after some time same tram comes to pick-up the visitors down the hill. You can find some small traders who sell bananas and beans to feed monkeys.
Down the hill, you can find play ground for children, some shops, restaurants etc.

Fireflies;

From Bukit Melawati, the firefly’s park is about 15 minutes. The boat ride starts from 7:45 pm only.

FireFly park

Information about Fireflies
It is really great to see Fireflies in Kuala Selangor’s river. Fire Fly is an insect which emits small yellow light from its abdomen. When you see groups of firefiles on different 'Berembang' trees blinking randomly, it looks like natural Christmas trees. In Kuala Selangor, Aeon is sponsoring the caring of fireflies.

Info on FireFlies
Small boats start from 7:45 pm, takes you inside the river where you can see the nature’s wonder very closely. The boat takes you very closer to the trees. The river water is very dirty. Ticket price for 4 people to roam in the boat is RM 50/- and it is about 15 minutes ride along river side. Photos with flash are not allowed and catching fireflies is strictly prohibited.
On return to home, if you feel tired or hungry, you can find some parking with café and restaurants. After 30 min journey, we find one, and took a break for our dinner and continued our journey to our sweet homes…

In short, it is good to visit place.

Pediatrician in Pantai

Dr Chin Yoon Hiap, Pediatrician in Pantai Hospital, Bangsar
photo taken from pantai hospital site.
Hi readers, today I want to share the information about a good Pediatrician

He is Dr Chin Yoon Hiap who is working in Pantai Hospital, Bangsar. Don't get upset by telling Pantai Hospital. Some time in emergency when other clinics remains closed, Pantai hospital serves as 24X7 basis. So it is good to know the information. I don't think that I need tell about Pantai Hospital, which is one of the best hospitals in Kuala Lumpur.

Now, to tell about Dr Chin, he is quite well experienced and very concentrated while treating his patients. His consultation room is located in 5th floor. If you don't know how to go there
, you can check with the help providers in hospital.

I seldom go to this doctor but all the times the medicine worked really good for my son. If you want to visit, you call and take the appointment. As usual, week ends, it is difficult to get the appointment and crowded. Even though the place is quite small, but it is neatly arranged. Patients can also wait outside.

Lot of toys available so that children don't feel frustrated while you wait for your turn. If you are visiting first time you have to give your full details. From other visit onwards they maintains the patients record. In every visit they take the weight and height of the baby.

Doctor is very good and listens patiently what ever we tell. He also examines thoroughly
before giving any medication. Price is considerable.

If you want to visit any other pediatrician in Pantai Hospital you can go to their official web site and find for doctors you want.

From Outside
A good news for all mutton lovers. You can get fresh mutton, lamb, goat milk etc in TPL Fresh Meats shop. In big shopping malls like Carrefour, Tesco, NSK you can get mutton, Lamb and Beaf but it might not be fresh always.

If you want a shop dedicated only for mutton you can choose this. Near to Brick Fields, the shop is located in Bangsar. If you look at the shop, you don't feel it as a meat stall. The maintenance is so good. In this shop, you can get varieties of mutton like local goats, Australian goats or Indian.
Cash Counter

Meat processing

Special requests for ribs, liver, bone and boneless mutton, only bones etc are served. The staff maintains very clean mechanism to cut the meat. Frozen items like goat bones, liver etc are available. Sea foods like prawns, fish seen in refrigerators as frozen food. Price is reasonable. Staff are friendly. On Festival days like Ramadan or Idul Zuha (Bakrid) one better to go and get the item a bit early else it will be crowded later or might not available sometimes.

Uncle and Aunty mess

If I am writing about brick fields and little India, if I don't write about Aunty and Uncle Restaurants then it will be not correct.

These restaurants might not be as famous as Gem or Saravana Bhavan but in my opinion the business is much better than others.

If you know Palm Court Condominium in Brick Fields, then these restaurants are located infornt of Palm Court, Block D. Even there got lot of big big Indian restaurants in Little India and other places of Brick Fields, when we go to curries section, for sure there will be some local flavour is mixed.

If you are interested in having Telugu meals like the flavour of real Vijayawada or Guntur these restaurants are the best option. The native Andhra people prefers these shops. First these shops started as curry houses and gradually upgraded to restaurants.

Most of the families and bachelors in Palm Court are from India and majority of them are from South India, they prefer to go to these shops. Another advantage for people is it is quite near to apartments. As I am also from Andhra Pradesh, I too like to go and eat here.

-----Advertisement here ---
To tell about Aunty Mess, break fast items are good. Items like Palin Dosa, Onion Dosa, Karam Dosa, Poori, Vada, Idly, Pongal and coffee are available. Variety of curries also available in pure andhra flavour. Aunty, really receives you with a warm smile and servers you on time. When compared to other big restaurants, the prices are really less and completely affordable.

A bachelor can not afford to go to big restaurant everyday for breakfast. So most of them relay on these small shops. Now there is a provision to sit and eat there itself. For office going people who prefer to take lunch, aunty shop provides lunch packed for them. They use to provide home delivery but now because of the crowed home delivery is stopped.

If you want to taste a home made hydrabadi biryani, it is better to go Uncle's shop. It is really tasty and affordable. The craze is such a way that, on Saturday or Sunday if you go around 1:30 or 1:45 pm you wont get biryani. by that time it will finish. So you have to be much earlier if you want to eat. Even daily they is big crowd for curries too..

Sambar, dal, fired vegetables, other vegetable curries, non veg items will be available on lunch and dinner times. You can get some snack items like bajji, bonda at evening times.

Pasaraya Asokan Grocery Store

Another Indian grocery store located in Brick Field, Little India is Asokan. It is remodelled recently and much spacious compared to Modern Stores. In this stores you can get all sorts of
Indian fresh vegetables, groceries, different rice bags etc.

In this shop you can get fresh Crabs some times. Most varieties of Non vegetarian items like
fish,  dried fish, prawns etc also available. I feel the groceries are not from India but locally available items. You don't get pre-made dosa dough and yogurt as in Modern Stores.

This shop opens for 24 hours. So when ever you want to shop you can go. Quite fresh vegetables are available. Service is very prompt. If your grocery items are more, then the helping staff brings it up-to your car. That really impressive.

The main problem for shopping in Little India is parking. So better to go in off-peak hours.
If you are a regular customer they even provide home delivery.

VenuSitas Sweet Shop

VenuSita is one dedicated Indian sweet shop which is located in Iittle India. We can get some of out Indian Sweets like Laddu, Tokkudu Laddu, Jangiri, Halwa, Pala kova, Boorelu etc..

In hot items got many more.

Along with sweets they also sell vegetarian cakes also. They have their own cooking room back side of the shop. So they prepare and sell there itself. If bought fresh, then laddu is really very tasty. The shop looks quite clean and neatly arranged. They take orders and provide sweet items for any private functions etc. Jangiri is really juicy and crunchy.

About hot items, muruku stands in first place. It tastes completely like home made. The cornflake snack is all time favourite item in my office to everyone. Lot more items like mixtures, chegodilu, muruku, other fried items can be found with very reasonable prices.

Modern Stores (Indian Grocery Shop)
