Hi friends.. Hope all are doing fine.. and Assalam Alaikum
Madrasathul Gouthyyah Surau, Brick Fields |
In this post I want to share about the Surau/Mosque in
Brickfields. Madrasathul Gouthiyyah Mosque is recently constructed. It is
walk able distance from nearby Palm Court Apartments. Imam is Indian. As this
area dominated by Indians than local Malaysians, the main language for preaching
is Tamil than Bahasa Maleyu. This is a
Madrasa (school) too where children can learn Al-Quran.
Few years back, there was a small surau in
this place which is re-constructed to new Masjid. As a remembrance of Imam Abdul Qadir Jilani,
this mosque has named as “Gouthiyyah” which means “one who is helpful”.
Birthday Celebrations of Imam Adbul Qadir Jilani takes place in this mosque.
Mazhab |
Interesting part of about this Mosque is, it follows Mazhab
Hanafi where most of the Malaysians follow Mazhab Syafi ( http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazhab_Syafi'i)
which is two different ways of Islam Tradition
under Sunni Muslim. In this tradition, Asar prayer takes place around 5:30 pm
where as in Mazhab Sufi, it is around 4:30 pm.
Inside Mosque |
In the month of Ramadan, they distribute porridge prepared
with rice and other ingredients which is distributed to everyone who breaks the
fast. The porridge tastes really very good. In Malay language it is called as bubur
lambuk. During Ramadan, if anyone wants to distribute fruits, rice packets etc
for devotees they can contact the management and can proceed.
